Okay, so I had a weird experience today. I was in class and I was taking notes, when suddenly a small folded note fell out of my writing hand. I had no idea where this note came from. It had appeared in my hand out of nowhere and it fell out. It was a very small note and all it said was "secret" in blue, ballpoint ink. I looked around me, wondering where this note had come from, but no one was paying me any attention. As a temporary theory I assumed someone with the power to freeze time had done so and slipped the note into my hand, unnoticed like that. So I wrote a note back for this time traveler, just as small, with a question: "What is the secret?" I left the note on the desk, but the time traveler didn't come again to collect it and respond. Then I came home and noticed a new Incidental Comic called "The Secret" where my question was answered: The secret is: pay attention
Congratulation, this is amazing. What poem inspired you?

Pretty weird huh?
Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy each of your Comics very much.
This one is particularly inspiring.
Have a great day!
I love it. Meditate.
ReplyDeleteAn orthodontist who reads poetry -- how wonderfully rare you are! (I wish mine had.) Beautiful comic.
ReplyDeleteLove the poem and your illustration so much that I can't help translating it into Chinese:
ReplyDelete我想知道生活的秘密
到处寻找它的痕迹:
它消融在残雪中
它俏立在枝头上
它藏在斑斓的影子里
它写在天空的雁行里
生活的秘密
原来如此简单:
睁开眼睛,
它就在那里
This is so very true—we NEED to be attentive to see what we're seeing. It's all for naught if not.

ReplyDeleteMary and grant- thank you for the reminders.
