Congratulations! You are right! If this is your first baby then you have no idea how your lives will change.
One moment you will be up very early carrying a crying baby, and the in the next moment that baby, who depends on you for everything, will fall asleep in your arms. You'll look down and forget that it's way too late/early and forget that you are tired and fall in love with your child, again.
Love this!! The comic and the comments are making me all teary. :) Can't wait to meet this little sweetie. It is so different than we imagined but indescribable!
Propagation of the species is a given, there will always be people giving birth. Having crossed that item off the list as reason for having children, what is left? I mean, really, what are children FOR? Precisely?
Your comic captures it perfectly. It's a wonderful leap into an unknown world, no matter how well you prepare yourself.
My piece of advice with two children? Sleep whenever you can. Sleep. Sleep. And sleep some more. In the early days especially. Because babies, even ones that seem to sleep well for weeks at a time, change schedules suddenly.
Congratulations! My husband and I are expecting our third child in the upcoming weeks. Kids can be so much fun. They make life exciting. They're definitely work, but worth it. And it goes by really fast. So enjoy!!! :)
My first child was born the day after you posted this. And everyday I have the feeling that I have no idea what I'm doing (suppose my wife feels the same way). Anyway, it's an amazing experience! :)
I just discovered your blog today. Your comics are great! Keep up the good work.
So cute. Congratulations and my best wishes to the three of you. You almost made me want one too.
ReplyDeleteI have two...and yes, you don´t know what you´re doing..but it´s going to be great fun..or something like that.

How wonderful for you both. You really do, at the most fundamental level, know a lot about this. You just don't know that you know it yet.
ReplyDeleteTwo equipment suggestions:
No matter how many bundling blankets you have, you will need more.
Baby Nasal aspirator. You can thank me later.
Buona Fortuna! Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Looks like you're right on track.

ReplyDeleteCongrats from a fan.
ReplyDeleteI do feel the need to comment on the ambiguity of the phrase
"expecting our first child in six weeks."
My first thought was, Wow, most non-twins are months apart!
24Congrats, man.
